The ISS transits the Full Moon in May 2016 Once the team knew when the pass would happen, they used a digital camera to fire a burst of exposures, capturing multiple moments of the silhouetted spacecraft. The photo above was made by superimposing 13 separate images of the ISS passing in front of the Moon into one. Full Moon is best, since it’s the biggest the moon can appear, but anything from a half-moon up and up will do. Only about a half second!
